About the Demo:
1) Technology being demonstrated
We will demonstrate an in ear sleep sensing and coaching system. The system uses miniature earbuds with embedded physiological sensors. Sensors capture heart rate, heart rate variability, respiration, movement, and sleep stage. On device processing analyzes these signals continuously during natural sleep. The platform produces objective markers linked to resilience, recovery, and physiological reserve.
2) Attendee interaction
Attendees can handle and wear the earbuds for a brief guided demo. They will see how the device fits comfortably without active user effort. A live interface will display example physiological signals and derived metrics. Pre recorded sessions will show longitudinal trends and nightly summaries. Staff will explain how passive overnight data supports frailty assessment and monitoring.
3) Relation to frailty
Our system relates to frailty by continuously measuring physiological and behavioral markers strongly associated with frailty risk. The device captures nocturnal heart rate, heart rate variability, respiration, movement, and sleep fragmentation. These signals reflect autonomic function, cardiopulmonary reserve, and neuromuscular stability. Frailty often presents as reduced physiological resilience, impaired recovery, and increased nocturnal disruption. Changes in HRV indicate diminished autonomic flexibility, a known frailty correlate. Altered respiration patterns and frequent arousals reflect reduced respiratory and neurological robustness. Nighttime movement and restlessness capture motor instability and fatigue without requiring daytime testing. Because measurements occur passively during sleep, the system avoids burden, effort bias, and compliance issues. Longitudinal trends enable detection of gradual decline, recovery, or response to intervention. This supports frailty screening, monitoring, and stratification in both clinical and research settings.
