MassAITC Cohort: Year 5 (Aging)

Initial Proposal Abstract: There are 6 million persons with heart failure (PwHF) in the US. PwHF have poor symptom recognition and low adherence to daily weights leading to frequent hospitalizations. Costs for US PwHF are expected to cost $53 Billion in 2030 driven by rehospitalizations. Challenging providers to come up with solutions to keep PwHF at home. Current solutions are expensive, invasive, or have poor adherence. We have a wearable solution, low-cost socks, to monitor edema and fatigue, early signs of HF exacerbations or response to treatment to decrease costs and improve outcomes. We will gather data and refine our algorithms with this funding.
