About the Demo:
1) About the device: Vyre’s continuous blood pressure monitoring ring brings gold-standard oscillometric blood pressure measurement to the finger enabling on the go and throughout the day readings. Unlike PPG-based smart rings, VYRE works across all skin tones and does not require monthly cuff-based blood pressure re-calibration.
2) Hands on demo: Attendees can demo working prototypes of the device and take a blood pressure measurement. Attendees will also be able to view a poster of some of the initial user studies of the device.
3) Relevance to frailty: Studies have found that dropping diastolic blood pressure rates have a strong association with how frail a person is and the number of falls a person had in the past year. The magnitude of this BP drop was most strongly associate with the following set of frailty markers: unintentional weight loss, exhaustion, physical inactivity, walking speed, and handgrip strength. Continuous monitoring of diastolic and systolic BP may provide a potential pathway to discovering a digital biomarker to predict who is at risk of frailty.
